Former AFC Wimbledon Winger Set For Move To Turkey

Hull City have given winger Ryan Longman permission to speak ‘with a team in Turkey’, according to Tigers boss Liam Rosenior ahead of tomorrow’s EFL Cup clash.

It was reported this weekend by Hull Live that Longman was a target for Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük who launched a bid to sign the former AFC Wimbledon loanee.

The Istanbul-based club, managed by Italian icon Andrea Pirlo last season, are keen to bring the attacker in on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign as the Turkish Süper Lig is set to begin this weekend.

Longman was on the Hull City bench on Saturday as the former Premier League outfit fell late on to Norwich City at Carrow Road but didn’t enter the fray at any point during the game.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside today, head coach Rosenior confirmed that Longman is in talks with Alparslan Erdem’s team [quotes via The 72]:

“He’s having discussions with a team in Turkey. I felt that it was right to give him that opportunity to speak to them.”

Rosenior also admitted that the former League One star cannot be guaranteed minutes at the MKM Stadium and so will allow him to leave ‘out of respect’:

“He’s in a position where he needs to be guaranteed games in his career and I can’t do that here. So out of respect for Ryan, he’s having conversations as we speak.”

Since signing permanently for Hull City in January 2022 for an undisclosed fee, Longman has made 53 appearances in all competitions, bagging just three times.

The 22-year-old played 37 games for the East Yorkshire club last term but is no longer in Rosenior’s plans moving forward and so it’s best that he can sort out a loan move for the season ahead to continue his development.

Turkish football will be a terrifying change in standards and quality for the ex-Brighton and Hove Albion youngster but one that could see him become twice the player that will jet off this week.
