Manchester City youngster and ex Blackpool midfielder Lewis Fiorini is wanted by a whole host of EFL clubs, with Reading, Bristol City and Swansea City allegedly interested according to journalist Pete O’Rourke’s report on Football Insider.
The 21-year-old is a target for these clubs on a proposed loan deal, Manchester City eager for Fiorini to cut his teeth away from the Etihad once more after promising spells away from the Premier League champions at the likes of Lincoln City and NAC Breda out in the Netherlands.
It remains to be seen what Fiorini’s next destination will be however, with a trio of clubs fighting it out for the Scotland U21 international.
Who Is Lewis Fiorini?
Born in Manchester, Fiorini has been at Manchester City permanently for his entire career to date minus loan spells away from the club – beginning his youth career with the serial winners in 2020.
Fiorini would excel in the U18 Premier League set-up with City, scoring eleven times in 25 appearances whilst developing through the ranks at the club.
The 21-year-old’s attacking qualities would shine on loan too, adding another five goals to his resume in the Dutch second division with NAC Breda.
His time in the EFL – and specifically in League One – will have alerted the likes of Reading to his services after this loan move to the Netherlands.
In an otherwise underwhelming season at Lincoln, the Imps finishing in 17th spot during the 2021-22 campaign, Fiorini was a constant bright spark from attacking midfield.
He would net six goals in Lincoln red and white, assisting a further four goals during a productive loan spell at Sincil Bank.
His time at last loan club Blackpool was ravaged by injury issues, only making 13 appearances for the Seasiders under former Imps boss Michael Appleton and then the doomed spell of Mick McCarthy.
He would still manage one solitary goal in the Championship for the Lancashire based club, scoring a long-range effort versus Millwall in a 3-2 defeat for the Tangerines.
Now, another loan spell awaits the Manchester born midfielder.
A Future For Fiorini At Manchester City?
Further into Pete O’Rourke’s report with Football Insider, it’s speculated that Fiorini could well even be out of the door at Manchester City on a permanent move instead of just a short loan getaway.
Fiorini will hope that isn’t the case, the 21-year-old has arguably showed bags of potential away from the Etihad in these goal-laden loan spells which even saw his adopted nation of Scotland come calling.
It’s up in the air as to whether or not Fiorini will depart the Etihad for another loan spell or whether he leaves behind the Citizens completely for pastures new.
Either way, the young midfielder remains in high demand.

This should make for an interesting transfer tussle, with Reading, Bristol City and Swansea all fighting it out Fiorini’s services.
After a disappointing time last season with Blackpool, Fiorini will hope that this next move can see him back to his best in an attacking midfield role.
However, Fiorini will have to remain realistic about his chances at Manchester City in the near future – the Premier League giants stacked with midfield maestros.
