Notts County announced today that promotion hero Aaron Nemane has signed a new deal to keep him at Meadow Lane for a further two seasons, on the official club website.
In Notts County’s remarkable 2022-23 promotion season that saw them challenge Wrexham for National League promotion, the 25-year-old wing-back played a vital role, constantly posing a threat on their right-hand side, and making significant defensive contributions, particularly during their play-off campaign.
Who is Aaron Nemane?
Nemane come through the youth system of Manchester City and had a brief loan spell with Rangers before dropping down to the National League. Notts County signed the 25-year-old Frenchman on a free transfer from Torquay United back in July 2021, and since then, he has been a key part of Luke Williams’ side.
In the 2022/23 season, Nemane showcased his talent making 38 appearances in the league and also playing in the club’s crucial play-off matches. As a wing-back, his contribution was impressive, notching up three goals and providing six assists, and putting in a really impressive performance in the National League play-off final at Wembley, which saw County win promotion on penalties over Chesterfield.
What Has Been Said?
The club announced that Nemane put pen to paper on a new two-year deal today keeping him with County until the summer of 2025. A statement on the club’s official website said…
“In Aaron’s time at the club, he’s gone from a player capable of producing great moments to one who can make a big impact from the first minute to last. His concentration, game understanding and self-belief have all come on a long way, resulting in a brilliant 2022-23 season capped by sensational performances in our play-off campaign.
“As his influence on the team has grown, we’ve seen opponents pay more and more attention to him and he has consistently shown he can rise to the challenge. We also feel Aaron has unique characteristics – he’s incredibly quick and, with his low centre of gravity and close control, extremely elusive.
“At 25, we feel he can still improve a lot and we’re very excited to give him the platform to realise his immense potential. On top of all that, Aaron’s a much-loved character and a hugely positive presence. All things considered, he’s a very valuable member of the squad.”
Writer’s View
I watched lots of Notts County last season as they battled their way to promotion and I have to say I was impressed with Nemane throughout the season and especially during their play-off campaign. County will be right up there this season in my opinion and the re-signing of Nemane really boosts their chances of promotion.
