Bolton Wanderers have moved on from Bristol City’s Kane Wilson, as the defender finds himself in limbo after a move to the League One side collapsed, as reported by Bristol World.
The 23-year-old is one year into his career at Championship club Bristol City and was said to be keen on a move to League One Bolton before the deal seemed to fall apart. Despite best efforts to resurrect the deal, Ian Evatt appears to have moved on from the defender he tabled an offer of £200,000 for.
It was the first of two transfer targets the League One side would miss out on this past week, the club were confident of securing the signature of Keanu Baccus from Scottish outfit St Mirren after a fee believed to be around £500,000 was agreed. However, it was reported by Football Scotland that the Australian international’s move to Bolton had also fell through, with the midfielder set to remain in Scotland with one year remaining on his deal. With both deals falling through for the League One club, Ian Evatt has moved on and the club believe their current targets, who are not yet known, are better options for them, as opposed to persisting with these deals.
Wilson was reportedly keen on a move to the League One club, but with the deal falling through, his future at Ashton Gate appears to be up in the air currently. After returning to the club’s performance centre for pre-season training, manager Nigel Pearson addressed the situation with the player as he admitted a number of players have been affected by the arrivals at the club. Despite being signed by current manager Nigel Pearson, the defender’s future is in question with the options available at right-back, a position which has posed issues for the club in the past. Wilson has struggled for game time since his arrival and did not make a Championship start for the club last season, after picking up a knee injury in October, the defender has featured just once.
The future of at least two players is currently in question with the club playing the waiting game with Tomas Kalas after a new deal being placed on the table. The 30-year-old defender has been offered a new contract at Ashton Gate, where he has been since 2019, which is believed to be on reduced terms he is currently on. Another player whose future is in doubt is Alex Scott, the midfielder is highly rated with a number of Premier League clubs interested in him, but there is yet to be a bid seen for him.

It has not yet come to light what the reasons are for both these transfers falling through. However, they both could be potentially huge blows for the club, especially Keanu Baccus. The midfielder enjoyed a stellar season with St Mirren and earned himself a World Cup spot, his presence in a Bolton side could have helped push them forward. For Wilson, his career could perhaps be in jeopardy already, it is tough to see him breaking into the Bristol side and the club seem reluctant to sell at present.
