Leeds United Plot Move For Championship Ace As A New Era Begins

Leeds United’s potential new owners are looking to make a statement once they complete their takeover of the club and they look to make a marquee signing to signal their intentions, as reported by Football League World.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League on the final day of last season and several players are said to be looking for moves away, as they joined based on the club’s Premier League status. The latest name to be linked with a move away is Marc Roca, who is set for a return to his native Spain with Real Betis on loan.

Meanwhile, there are questions over the ownership of the club also. Partial owners, the San Fransisco 49ers have completed a full buyout of the club from Andrea Radrizzani and look to guide the side back to the Premier League. And they already have one name on their shopping list, who they plan to make their marquee signing as they look to make a move for Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer.

Hamer, who will be coming into the last year of his contract with the Sky Blues this coming season, was a pivotal part of the side reaching the playoff final last campaign ultimately falling short. Since their defeat to Luton Town on penalties that day, players such as Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres are being linked with moves away, as interested clubs begin to circle to try to entice them away from the club.

The 25-year-old was hailed as “unbelievable” by former Coventry City keeper Marko Marosi, as he was credited with ten assists, as well as scoring nine in 41 appearances for the club last season. His numbers in all areas show the presence he holds in the middle of the pitch, creating 16 big chances and also registering 1.8 key passes, 2.6 tackles, 1.1 successful dribbles per game and winning 4.8 duels per game also.

With that said, these numbers show a player who could command a high fee, with the Brazilian valued at around £10 million, however, with the contract drawing close to an end, higher-ups at Elland Road could be looking for a cut-price deal, as they strengthen their squad for a promotion push.

Hamer is a solid presence in midfield and a key part of the Sky Blues side, but with the side missing out on promotion, he may be seeking a move away from Coventry and try a new challenge in taking a club to the top flight. With one year remaining, it would be wise for the club to sell, as opposed to losing the player for a fee. Leeds are set for a lot of changes, with players like Tyler Adams expected to depart and Hamer would be an ideal replacement.
