Barnsley are taking an interest in Luton Town striker Admiral Muskwe according to Darren Witcoop.
After spending last season out on loan to fellow League One outfit Fleetwood Town, the striker is attracting interest from the third tier playoff finalists with other League One clubs also interested. The 24-year-old played 14 games for The Cods last season and scored three goals before returning to Luton in February.
The forward’s last goal was on New Year’s Day in Fleetwood’s 3-0 victory against Shrewsbury but his loan with the club was cut short when he returned to the newly promoted side. The forward, however, still managed to get game time as he trained and featured for the U21’s in a solution to ensure he found match fitness by manager Rob Edwards. Muskwe didn’t feature for The Hatters’ first team since his recall despite being in the match day squad versus Sheffield United in March.
Who Is Admiral Muskwe
The Zimbabwean forward started his career with the Leicester City youth team when he signed for The Foxes just aged nine. The starlet stayed with the Leicester Academy throughout his early playing career and signed his first professional contract in 2019, alongside England international Harvey Barnes.
Muskwe then spent some time out on loan with the likes of Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers, the latter is where he scored his first professional goal against Brentford in 2021. The same year, Luton Town signed the striker for an undisclosed fee. Since then, Admiral Muskwe has played 17 times in The Championship, failing to score any goals. Nathan Jones then sent the forward out on loan for game time with Fleetwood, before being recalled by the new recent Championship playoff winners.

I believe the former Leicester City striker’s next move should be a permanent one, the striker is now 24 and needs a club where he will feature regularly. The 24-year-old striker has shown throughout his time at the Leicester City Academy that he is athletic, strong and a smart finisher but has yet to find a move where his talents have been exposed to their full potential.
Luton has a reputation for being smart when recruiting players, having a small budget has shown in the past that they have spent wisely on hidden talents that have seen them progress from Non-League to The Promised Land. I feel they saw something in Admiral but unfortunately for him, the move hasn’t quite paid off.
Barnsley would be an ideal club for the forward’s talents to be nurtured under their boss Michael Duff, with The Tykes boss working well with forwards such as Devante Cole this season just gone. I’d expect Barnsley to push on next season and potentially improve on last season’s Playoff finish, and a signing of Muskwe’s calibre could be a difference-maker to do that.
Finally, if the move was a loan, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the striker. But, I genuinely feel if he’s not going to feature for Luton in the Championship, let alone The Premier League, he should leave permanently to go find a move elsewhere where he will be a main striker and find the form which will ultimately kick start his career. Barnsley would be a step up in quality from this previous move to Fleetwood, and with Michael Duff’s side creating more chances, Muskwe could thrive and fire them further up the League.
