If this move was the come to fruition, I think it would be a fantastic addition to Lincoln, despite an injury last season, Smith came into form last campaign with 3 assists and 5 goals. The impact he has had on Sutton is great and he certainly would be a good addition to the Imps.
Mark Kennedy could bring out the best in the central midfielder and after a fantastic season, he could hit the ground running in a move that’s closer to home. If the current Sutton player were to become free at the end of the season, there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain, why wouldn’t you take the risk?
In Summary, free or not, Smith would be a quality acquisition for the Imps, who need players in that position, despite not playing League One football, this could be the perfect time for the 24-year-old to make his next move and develop his talents.
