Portsmouth striker Colby Bishop believes Pompey is on the up and heading in the right direction, during an interview with BBC Radio Solent.
Portsmouth’s top goalscorer for this season, Bishop spoke in full on how he’s enjoying his time at the club and feels they have come a long way since the change in management back in January.
Who Is Colby Bishop?
The striker arrived at Fratton Park last summer and had a tremendous debut season for the Blues. Involved in all 46 league matches, Bishop finished the season as the top goalscorer at the club with 20 goals and four assists to go alongside.
This year was Bishop’s best season in the Football League and will give him confidence for manager John Mousinho’s first full season in charge.
Does Pompey Have What It Takes To Improve?
Despite finishing the season unbeaten in 11 games, Pompey remained outside the playoff places and ended the campaign in 8th place.
Their unbeaten run will give them hope for next season, however, only four wins came from it. While walking away with a point is never bad, if Pompey wants to make the step forward, those draws will need to be turned into wins.
Is Social Media Good For Players?
While talking about Portsmouth, Bishop also got onto the subject of social media. He spoke directly about how he ignores most of it which is becoming familiar with football players.
Recently more and more footballers have removed comments from their social media posts due to negativity, with some even removing themselves from the platform entirely.
What’s Been Said:
When speaking on the radio show, alongside his optimism for next season, Bishop discussed rumours linking him to other teams and how he does not pay attention to social media.
“You can see the quality is there when we get going.” Bishop said. “We are nearly there it’s just going to take time.”
“The last two performances have been amazing and we’ve come a long way since January. Things look to be clicking and when it all comes together we will be a dangerous force.
“I don’t really see any of the speculation that is linking me with other teams elsewhere.
“I don’t scroll on Twitter and look at what people are saying about me. I just try and concentrate on what I can do here at Portsmouth and both me and my partner are happy here and enjoying Pompey.”
Writer’s View
By the sound of things, Bishop is very happy at Portsmouth and is optimistic about how next season can go for them. Mousinho started to solidify things toward the end of the season and has now put Pompey in a position to take the next step for the new season.
