Crawley Town boss Scott Lindsey has today assured fans that he is “made” for the relegation battle, ahead of their trip to Hartlepool this weekend, as per The Sussex Express.
This weekend sees arguably the biggest game of Crawley’s season, as they travel to The Suit Direct Stadium to face fellow relegation candidates Hartlepool United. The tail of the tape is as follows, Hartlepool currently sit in the relegation zone on 39 points, three points behind Scott Lindsey’s Crawley, who sit 22nd on 42 points.
If Hartlepool are to get a result, they could leapfrog Crawley and push the Red Devils back into the relegation zone. For that to happen they would need to beat Crawley by at least three goals on the day.
Crawley come into the game being the form team, having managed a win and draw in their last two outings, compared to Hartlepool’s two losses. But at this point in the season, everything is on the line and often form will only play a small part and it will ultimately go down to which side wants it more.
But the job at hand for the players and staff is simple, better Hartlepool’s results in the last three games and they are safe. A win this weekend would put Lindsey’s side, just a point away from securing safety in League Two.
Speaking with the Sussex Express on Thursday Lindsey had this to say ahead of this vital fixture for his side.
“I feel that I was made for these moments, I am really looking forward to it, this is what it’s all about, rolling your sleeves up and saying let’s have it now.”
“It’s great we have got this purpose now until the end of the season, albeit at the wrong end of the table. It’s not where we want to be but it’s where we are.”

I guess confidence is certainly what you want to hear from your manager ahead of such a pivotal game in the season. But I can’t say I agree with Lindsey’s comments about it being great they’ve got “this purpose”, I think most fans would agree they’d rather be well away from the relegation battle.
For me this is the game of the weekend, so much riding on it for both teams. Hartlepool will fancy their chances against a Crawley side in turmoil, a win for the home side will blow the race for survival wide open, heading into the final two games of the season.
I’m sure many will keep a keen eye on the ongoings at The Suit Direct Stadium on Saturday.
