Charlton Boss Issues Huge Statement On Premier League Target’s Future

Charlton manager Dean Holden has issued a hands-off warning to Premier League side Aston Villa in their pursuit of striker Miles Leaburn, speaking to the South London Press.

The 19-year-old has burst onto the scene this season, making himself a mainstay in the Addicks’ first team, featuring 36 times for the team, scoring 12 and providing three assists for the team during that time.

His quick adaptation to first-team football at a senior level has caught the eye of many, as it was reported over the weekend that Aston Villa are interested in acquiring the young striker’s services.

However, Dean Holden has spoken out about the interest, saying he is reluctant to see the striker leave, and he wants to work with him more and develop him further.

“Miles is not for sale.

“Miles is a fantastic young player who has got lots to learn still. He’s somebody I love working with. It’s just speculation.”

Leaburn rose through the youth ranks at Premier League outfit Chelsea before departing in 2019 to join the Addicks, a club where his father, Carl, is legendary in his own right. During his time with Charlton, Carl scored 66 goals over the club, a spell which lasted 11 years. Quite simply, Miles had won the fans over before he had even stepped onto the pitch for the club.

Injury has not stopped the striker this season, despite missing two months of this season through injury, he is still the second top scorer for the side. Since he was trusted in the first game of the season to make his debut, he has been trusted enough to become the regular starter up top for Holden’s side.

Another situation where a club may struggle to fend off interest from a Premier League giant. Aston Villa have a solid project on the build currently under manager Unai Emery. Villa will not be shy to spend big to get their man either, something which they know can factor in, should a six-figure bid come in, it would be something difficult for the club to turn down. They proved they will spend big for the future in January, spending around £14 million on Columbian prospect John Duran.

However, his father’s legacy could play a part in the 19-year-old deciding to stay with the club, as he may look to surpass his father and build himself with the club and help guide them back to the top next season.
