Charlton Athletic boss Dean Holden is set to extend his stay at The Valley after agreeing to a new contract with the club, according to the South London Press.
It is understood that Holden has agreed to a new long-term deal with the club at the start of the week and an official announcement from Charlton could come before this weekend’s game at home to Accrington Stanley.
Before an announcement can be scheduled, however, Holden’s proposed new deal also has to be rubber-stamped by the League Manager’s Association before it can be made official.
It is also understood that Holden met up with chief executive Peter Storrie last week to start putting together plans for next season and what they want to do in regard to a pre-season programme.
Holden became manager at the Addicks in December following the dismissal of Ben Garner after only six months in charge following a run of picking up two points out of a possible 15 and has gone on to take charge of 15 games for the club, winning six of them, drawing twice and losing the other seven.

The 43-year-old took his first steps into management when he was given the job at Bristol City following the departure of Lee Johnson but he could only last seven months before he was let go by the club, managing 41 games during that time.
A spell of being Michael O’Neill’s assistant at Stoke City followed before taking over the managers job at the South London side in late December, signing a deal with the club until the end of the season.
Charlton currently sit 16th in the League One table with 12 games left to play, with the club not really fearing the threat of relegation but not in a position where they can mount a late charge towards the play-off places.

Charlton securing the future of Dean Holden to a longer deal I feel is a good piece of business from the club, especially after growing speculation regarding his future with the 43-year-old only penning a deal until the end of the season when he first walked through the door.
In what has been a somewhat difficult season for Charlton and their fans on the pitch, with talks of a potential takeover happening off it, Holden has come in and has steadied the ship which will most likely see the club play their football in League One again next season.
