‘Show them what you can do’ – These fans react as former Celtic prospect makes League Two switch

Former Celtic winger Calvin Miller has made a permanent switch to Simon Weaver’s Harrogate Town ahead of their clash with Bolton today.

The 22-year-old, who was handed a Parkhead debut in 2016, will take the number 19 shirt and joins amidst previous reports he may have been heading to Gillingham, Amiens in France, or even Sporting Kansas City.

Instead, he has appeared at the CNG Stadium in a move which has delighted manager Simon Weaver.

“I’m very pleased to get some speed in as an attacking option and I think we’ll see the best of him going forward. Calvin has a good left foot and can deliver at pace.

“His tenacity was there for everyone to see right from session one, which is a must for us.”

Miller had been with Celtic since the age of 12 and represented Scotland through to Under 21 level prior to his release in the summer.  He made his competitive debut against Partick Thistle on in December 2016, earning himself a three-year deal in the process, before going on to appear five times for the Hoops, alongside loan spells with Dundee and Ayr United in 2018/19.

He struggled to assert himself back at his parent club after that, appearing only for the Under 20 squad last season prior to the early curtailment. Recently, he has been training with Plymouth Argyle, but they opted not to offer him a deal, leading to his move to Harrogate. He joins a Town side that are sixth in League Two, undefeated after three matches.

Fans of both clubs have been quick to welcome the winger to Harrogate, as you’ll see from the social media posts below.
