‘A signing’, ‘At least it’s a start’ – These Tranmere Rovers fans react to latest club announcement

Tranmere Rovers fans got very excited this morning when they were met with a club announcement.

The Prenton Park outfit are facing up to life in League Two after their PPG relegation last season, and are eagerly awaiting news of new players. Last week, they appointed Mike Jackson as their manager, and this morning it is the recruitment of an assistant boss which has caught the news.

Ian Dawes has joined as the assistant boss, teaming up once again with Jackson with whom he worked at Shrewsbury Town. In addition to that experience, heย also managed Welsh side Bangor City and spent some time coaching at Liverpool. Dawes was dismissed by Bangorย โ€œdue to the inability to gain his acceptance on the current Pro Licence course in accordance with UEFA club licensing criteria,” bagging eights wins and a draw from sixteen matches in charge.

He revealed his delight in coming home to Liverpool and at working with Jackson.

โ€œI received a phone call from the manager asking if I would like to come in as number two, and I am absolutely delighted to be working for such a historic football club. It is an honour,” he told their official site.

โ€œThe Club has a fantastic fan base and great history. I am from Liverpool, so I know the Club extremely well. It is a massive opportunity and I canโ€™t wait to get going.”

Whilst the club do need an assistant and the news has been well received, it wasn’t the announcement the Super White Army were hoping for. Mixed in with the congratulations and plaudits were plenty of people asking when the club might actually make a signing. With the new season set to kick off in just over five weeks, Tranmere fans are hoping to see new faces coming in to help them right the injustice they feel they have suffered, as you’ll see below.
