Portsmouth have announced via their official site that the contracts of eight players have been extended to ensure they are available for the League One play-offs.
Lee Brown, Christian Burgess, Matt Casey, Oli Hawkins, Brandon Haunstrup, Adam May, Brett Pitman and Sean Raggett were all due to leave the club this summer, either returning to their parent clubs or leaving as free agents.
However, all eight will now be allowed to appear in the semi-finals against Oxford and the Wembley final, should Portsmouth progress. However, keeper Luke McGee has opted not to sign an extension. He will depart Fratton Park having made 55 appearances since signing from Spurs in 2017.
Two notable names on the list are fan favourite Christian Burgess and Norwich City’s on-loan defender Sean Raggett. Raggett has appeared 36 times in total for Pompey, scoring twice, and has become a staple of their back four. He started his career at Dover Athletic but rose to prominence as a part of a Lincoln City side that appeared in the FA Cup Quarter Final as a non-league team back in 2017.
28-year-old Burgess started at Middlesbrough but has now made over 200 appearances for Pompey across League One and League Two. Both are thought to be key parts of the current setup and these fans are certainly delighted to see they’re both remaining at the club, along with a handful of others.
The moment you see the team sheets and burgey and raggett are on the bench lol typical Kenny

Great news, do you think you can manage to extend Christian's by an extra 3 years? ??

Right, so he can play the play-offs, but is there any news about a longer-term deal for Burgess?

Why waste everybody's time with Pitman? It's obvious he doesn't want to be here, the manager doesn't want to play him. He's not going to play, and even if by some miracle he does get on the pitch he won't do fuck all. He's been made to train away from the team, why keep him?
