‘Can’t say I’m fussed’ – These Ipswich fans react to latest club news

Ipswich Town have ended Josh Earl’s loan deal with the club, as reported by their official website.

The Southport-born 21-year-old arrived at Portman Road in January and made seven appearances for the club, but with the current uncertainty in football, that move has now been cut short, something, Lee O’Neill, Ipswich’s General Manager for Football Operations, believes was the right choice.

“We all agreed that it was the sensible thing to do given the circumstances,” said O’Neill.

“We could have extended Josh’s loan but there is so much uncertainty going on at the moment around when games might be played again that it wasn’t really a viable option.

“We’d like to thank Josh for his contribution to the team and to the Club in his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.”

Earl spent the first half of the season on loan with crisis-club Bolton Wanderers, before joining the Tractor Boys as they fell out of the promotion frame in League One. Although the season is not yet complete, it does look as though the 1981 UEFA Cup Winners will be spending another season in the third-tier.

Earl’s departure hasn’t been a cause of concern for Blues fans, who have reacted on social media with blind indifference. The uncertainty around football as a whole is bad enough right now, so much so that small loan deals ending don’t make a big impact with some fans.

However, others see this as a missed opportunity for the club, with a final selection of supporters believing it is the perfect example of why this current season cannot resume in any way.
