Tranmere Rovers grabbed a vital win in midweek, beating Shrewsbury Town 3-2 in Shropshire.
The Prenton Park outfit are adrift in the relegation zone and might have wanted to get some momentum going when they faced Joey Barton’s Fleetwood this weekend. Sadly, their home ground has suffered a deluge of water and after the world saw how bad it was in their FA Cup tie with Manchester United, few will be surprised their game has been called off.
A club statement said: “There has been consistent heavy rain in the local area since last Sunday, and following a pitch inspection this afternoon, the referee has deemed the surface unplayable due to the adverse weather conditions.”
Fleetwood would have seen the game as a chance to close the gap on the top six, but Rover’s might have gone into the game with some confidence. They’re already playing catch up with their fixtures, sitting with games in hand thanks to the cup run, and they now face the prospect of another midweek game before now and the end of the season.
Fans are not impressed with the latest development, even though Strom Jorge is approaching bringing the third spell of bad weather in as many weeks. They’re questioning the club’s commitment to sorting their pitch issues, as well as wondering whether a season ticket really was worth the investment.
Should have done more. We haven't played on it for a while. Joke

Should have waited until the day of the game to announce it and piss Barton off.

Was hardly worth getting a season ticket. Those of us that work away Mon-Fri penalised because we can't manage our playing surface. All the club does in return is to push advanced ST sales for next season. Pay as you go next season then. No benefit to renew.☹️

Mad how Shrewsbury’s pitch was perfect the other day even when the whole town is under water. And we get stuffed as soon as it’s starts spitting ???

Another Tuesday night game due to us gambling last summer.
Utter shambles.— Shaun Fitzsimmons (@ShaunAFitzy78) February 28, 2020
Only game in the top 4 divisions to be called off this weekend, so far! Kills what tiny bit of momentum we had from last Tuesday night.

Why isn't cover on

Yep. Another firkin Saturday without footy. Why weren't the covers put over the pitch knowing the forecast was for bad weather all week ?♂️?♂️?♂️?♂️
