Tranmere Rovers have suffered an injury blow as defender Morgan Feeney returns to Everton for treatment after picking up a hamstring injury.
Feeney only joined the club four days ago but has returned to Goodison after picking up an injury in his opening game, a defeat against fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers.
The 20-year-old made his first-team debut for Everton in a Europe League game against Atalanta in 2017, making his Football League debut this weekend for Mickey Mellon’s side. He was the captain of the Toffemen’s under-23 side and looked set to enjoy his first loan spell in senior football.
“It’s his first loan, but I’m very confident and very positive about it,” said Mellon upon his arrival.
Feeney played 89 minutes of his debut for Tranmere, coming off in the final seconds for Sid Nelson, but is now back with his parent club. The future might look uncertain for him now, but it’s even bleaker for Tranmere.
After back to back promotions, they’re struggling in League One, six points adrift of safety albeit with a game in hand. Feeney’s departure is jsut the latest blow the club have suffered, but it hasn’t surprised fans one little bit.

This is how it feels to be Tranmere, always on your back as you know, Rovers physio going for 22 in a row

Not the player for a relegation dog fight anyway. Manny and Clarke centre back with Sid as cover

Shame for him. Hope Sid Nelson gets the nod if Clarke is out.
