Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has been shortlistedΒ for the League One Manager of the Month award for November.
The recognition comes after Pompey took ten points from a possible twelve to move up to tenth in the table, just three points off the playoffs with a game in hand.
It has been a steady turn around for Pompey after a difficult start to the campaign, which saw many fans desperate for owner Michael Eisner to sack Jackett.
‘We want Jackett out’ is a chant that was regularly heard a few weeks ago, especially from hardcore travelling fans, and the hostility on social media towards the former Wolves boss has been stark.
However, Eisner’s decision to keep faith with Jackett is now starting to beat fruit, and a promotion push is once again on the agenda.
Many fans who once called for the manager’s head are now beginning to give him some credit on social media for the improved results.Β It is also apparent despiteΒ a decent run of form, the hostility towards Jackett has not decreased in some fans, with plenty still criticising his tactics and style of football.
Judging by the reaction, the fifty-seven-year-old still has some way to go to convince many fans of his worth, but if he keeps winning and leads them to a promotion, most will be singing his praises come the end of the season.
Here is a small selection of responses to the news on Twitter.
Credit where it's due, results have picked up even though performances haven't (bar Rotherham). Think most #Pompey fans would take poor performances if we grind out results. Cracks are being papered over (unconvincing/undeserved wins against non leaguers and poor L1 sides).

This is really going to annoy some π

And credit must go to him, he takes enough flack from the boo boys

Credit where it's due yes, he turned it around. But his tactics have destroyed the most prominent goal scorer in the league, doesn't trust his own signings, marginalised the best natural goal scorer we have, persists with playing players out of position. Still needs to sort that

Hats off to the board for not overreacting on the pressure to sack him. Well done to Kenny on the nomination π pic.twitter.com/9CKLTioVY3

We will make play offs then lose the semi finals just like every single time before

has quite literally turned it around despite the hate. I called for his head but fair play heβs done a solid job

Football has been dreadful, performances not brilliant, and players out of position. Dont see how it's been "turned around" because we haven't lost and won a few.

You can when you were top of the league and about 8 points clear at this stage last season π
