‘This is really going to annoy some’ – These Portsmouth fans react to significant manager news

Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has been shortlisted for the League One Manager of the Month award for November.

The recognition comes after Pompey took ten points from a possible twelve to move up to tenth in the table, just three points off the playoffs with a game in hand.

It has been a steady turn around for Pompey after a difficult start to the campaign, which saw many fans desperate for owner Michael Eisner to sack Jackett.

‘We want Jackett out’ is a chant that was regularly heard a few weeks ago, especially from hardcore travelling fans, and the hostility on social media towards the former Wolves boss has been stark.

However, Eisner’s decision to keep faith with Jackett is now starting to beat fruit, and a promotion push is once again on the agenda.

Many fans who once called for the manager’s head are now beginning to give him some credit on social media for the improved results. It is also apparent despite a decent run of form, the hostility towards Jackett has not decreased in some fans, with plenty still criticising his tactics and style of football.

Judging by the reaction, the fifty-seven-year-old still has some way to go to convince many fans of his worth, but if he keeps winning and leads them to a promotion, most will be singing his praises come the end of the season.

Here is a small selection of responses to the news on Twitter.
