They huffed, and they puffed, but Burton Albion failed to trouble the scorers on Saturday and fell to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Lincoln City.
The Imps scored at the beginning and end of the match through Harry Anderson and Tyler Walker to earn their first league win since early October and register their first away win since August.
Burton had much of the ball throughout the game but created few chances and always looked vulnerable to an Imps counter-attack with the pacy, hard-working Anderson a constant threat on the right-wing.
The Brewers had no real answer, and the defeat followed an uninspired 1-1 draw against League One whipping boys Southend United last time out at the Pirelli to leave supporters wondering where the team is heading this season.
Unsurprisingly manager Nigel Clough came in for some criticism from Brewers fans when they reacted to the result on social media. Many supporters think that Clough is a dinosaur who has allowed good players such as Marcus Harness to leave the club and signed sub-standard replacements.
Burton are now fifteenth in League One which many fans feel is unacceptable for a club that was in the Championship only two years ago.
