Oxford United have signed keeper Jordan Archer on a short-term deal, as revealed by their official website.
The 26-year-old left Millwall in the summer and has been without a club, but with Simon Eastwood out of action with a knee injury, Karl Robinson has had to move to bring in cover for Jack Stevens.
“It has worked out well,” said the former Charlton boss.
“Jordan has over 200 games under his belt, has played for Scotland, and that experience we need right now when we are in a great position in the league but with some big games coming up plus a Carabao Cup quarter-final as well.”
Archer started his career with Spurs, spending time on loan with Wycombe and Northampton before a loan spell with the Lions was made permanent in 2015. He played 166 times for Milwall, making 45 appearances in their first season back in the Championship.
“I’m delighted to be here and looking forward to it,” said Archer, who has one Scotland cap to his name.
“I have been working hard and staying fit so feel pretty sharp, and having trained with the club for the last couple of days I feel like I am ready if called upon against Shrewsbury tomorrow.”
Whilst everything seems good on paper, one or two Millwall fans have crept onto the thread to issue their concerns to the U’s followers.
he's been out of contract for half a season, and Millwall fans don't rate him very highly. I hope he has the best few games of his life here
