Speculation has emerged that former Spurs defender Jamie Reynolds is on trial at Sunderland as reported by HITC Sport.
Eagle-eyed reporter Aiden Cusick spotted the Black Cats were fielding a trialist at left-back on their teamsheet for their Under-23 match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Friday, which the official teamsheet identified as Jamie Reynolds.

A quick google search confirmed no other footballer with that name and with Reynold’s currently a free-agent, they concluded he appears to be looking to earn a contract at the Stadium of Light.
Spurs released Reynolds at the end of last season after twelve years at the club in which he failed to break through into the senior set up.
The twenty-year-old spent last season playing in Tottenham’s Under-23s but was released when his contract expired at the end of the campaign.
He linked up with the former Spurs midfielder, Jamie O’Hara, at Billericay Town in late September, but last appeared for the Essex non-league outfit as a substitute in their 4-0 FA Cup defeat by League Two high-flyers Forest Green Rovers at the start of this month.
HITC claim because Reynolds is not tied to a league club this season, he would be free to join Sunderland immediately should they wish to sign him.
Our View
There might be something in this, left-back was a problem position for Sunderland in the summer they thought they had solved with the signing of Laurens De Bock on loan from Leeds to give competition to Denver Hulme.
However, De Bock has been far from impressive so far, and new boss Phil Parkinson might be exploring other options.
Nonetheless, surely Reynolds would be an Under-23 player, with his pedigree, the first-team might be a step too far at this stage, and Sunderland fans will be hoping for much more from their January dealings.
