Celtic youngster in blistering form for League Two outfit

Celtic youngster Jack Aitchison is currently in hot form for League Two outfit Forest Green Rovers.

The nineteen-year-old signed a deadline day season-long loan deal with FGR in September, and after scoring the winner on his debut at Cambridge United, he then went six games without a goal before hitting a hot streak which has seen him net four times in his last four games.

His latest effort helped ease the Gloucestershire club into the FA Cup second round with a convincing 4-0 win over non-league Billericay Town and his crucial goals against Mansfield, Morecambe and Cheltenham have contributed to Forest Green’s rise to the top of League Two.

Aitchison became Celtic’s youngest ever scorer at the age of sixteen back in 2016 when he scored on his full debut against Motherwell. He’s since made two further substitute appearances for the Hoops and enjoyed loan stints with Dumbarton and Alloa Athletic.

His first move south is now going exceptionally well, prompting speculation amongst Celtic fans and the local Glasgow press the Hoops might recall him in January to help with their title push.

However, a recall looks unlikely, and the clinical finisher seems set to be part of a sustained push for League Two promotion for the rest of the campaign.

Our View

Aitchinson is a hot prospect with a big future in the game.

His form probably puts an end to FGR fans hopes of signing him permanently so they should relish his time with them.

If he carries on the way he is going, the Vegans rise could continue with yet another promotion and the prospect of League One football next season is a serious one.
