‘I’m pretty sure that’s not legal’ – These Bolton fans react as club makes unpopular announcement

Bolton Wanderers fans are still feeling very bitter about their match with Lincoln City being postponed this weekend, with Trotters owners now also coming under fire.

They travelled to Sincil Bank having picked up their first win of the season in midweek but found the game called off at 10.45 am due to the torrential rain both on the pitch and around the ground. The match referee had no hesitation in postponing the fixture.

Bolton fans that travelled then had to travel back, although a few remained in Lincoln and caused widespread disorder which resulted in a local man being tasered by police as he defended his own pub.

Having had a game postponed themselves this season, not because of weather but over ‘player welfare’ concerns, you’d think Trotters fans would be a little more understanding when a match is genuinely lost to the elements, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Instead, a group of them believe that Lincoln should suffer a points deduction, which seems to be the punishment Bolton face for losing their clash with Doncaster. Ironically, Lincoln suffered on the back of the Doncaster postponement as they were the next opponents of Darren Moore’s side, who were well-rested and able to win 2-1.

Now the club have agreed to hand out refunds, but only to those who attend the University of Bolton Stadium. That’s not proven to be a popular decision; here’s what Trotters fans are saying about their fixture on social media after the club announced refunds could only be collected in person at the ground.
