Plymouth Argyle travelled to Exeter City this afternoon for the first Devon derby at St James Park since 2016. On that occasion, Argyle ran out 2-0 winners.
With both teams challenging at the top of the table it was expected to be a tight, cagey affair with little between them. The Grecians were coming into the game off the back of two defeats, 4-0 at Cambridge and 3-1 at Scunthorpe.
Ryan Lowe’s side had notched two wins on the bounce, the most recent a 4-0 victory against Leyton Orient. The Green Army travelled in numbers but were left dismayed, disappointed and ultimately distraught.
Nicky Law opened the scoring just before halftime from the penalty spot, then Tom Parkes added a second immediately after the restart to make it 2-0. Randall Williams bagged a third before Law rounded off a great day for the home side with seven minutes left on the clock.
Plymouth’s fans were left gutted, not least because of their own club’s reaction. They tweeted out a thank you message to Exeter for looking after them so well; not something the fans wanted to see after being humiliated on the field.
They’ve poured on to social media to express their anger at the media team’s innocent tweet, as well as the player’s awful performance.
#pafc need to start respecting their fans. They don’t respect the fans who turn up to matches at HP, this tweet is disrespectful to the fans who made the journey to Exeter today. The fans are central to the club, club pays lip service to this but it isn’t how the fans are treated

If I turn up at work and perform like that I would be in a lot of trouble. What's the players excuse?
