Sol, Campbell is poised to return to management with Southend United, as reported by Sky Sports.
The former Arsenal and Spurs central defender has been out of the game since leaving Macclesfield Town earlier in the season. he took over the Silkmen with them in the bottom two of League Two last season but led them to safety despite the ongoing financial concerns at the club.
Those concerns eventually contributed to the former England man leaving Moss Rose, but following the breakdown of Henrik Larsson’s move to Roots Hall, Campbell looks set to be handed a chance.
It’s believed that former Manchester United striker Andy Cole and former Ipswich defender Hermann Hreidarsson are set to join Campbell on his backroom team as he looks to work his magic on the Shrimpers.
They’re only being kept off the bottom of the League One table by crisis-club Bolton and have registered just one win in the league, away at MK Dons. They’ve lost 13 of their 17 fixtures in all competitions and desperately need a change of direction.
Supporters have been quick to offer their opinions on Campbell’s latest job link, as you can read below.
