Ipswich Town have been allocated more tickets for their upcoming fixture against Southend United, as reported by their official site.
56 miles separate the two sides but it’s close enough to be considered by some as a derby; there are 45 miles between the Blues and their traditional rivals Norwich City.
The pair have only clashed once in the league at Roots Hall in the last 20 years, Billy Clarke, Sylvian Legwinski and Alan Lee giving the visitors a 3-1 win on that occasion. A similar result will be expected this time around as the Shrimpers languish at the bottom of the table, whilst Paul Lambert’s team fight for an immediate return to the second tier.
They sold out their initial allocation of 2,000 and have now had to work closely with their Southend counterparts to get another 450 for the game, scheduled to take place on October 26th.
They club say they expect all the additional tickets to sell out within an hour of release, to be expected for a side that regularly command 15,000 at home. With the proximity of their fixture and the chances of a win, they’re likely to have been able to sell their allocation three times over.
