It was a tough afternoon for Coventry City supporters, or at least those who turned out to watch their Under 23 team in action.
They were playing their counterparts from Millwall and fell to a heavy defeat; equal to that of the first team at the weekend.
On Saturday, Mark Robins saw the first team easily beaten at Rotherham by four goals to nil. Matt Crooks and Michael Smith each grabbed a brace to sink the Sky Blues who had otherwise had a good start to the season.
The young side fared little better. George Alexander netted the opener on 26 minutes for the Lions, with Jayden Davis adding a second. The Coventry heads dropped before half time as Alexander made it 3-0 before Sam Skeffington gave the scoreline some real gloss.
They showed some resilience in the second half, David Bremang pulled one back from the spot after winning the penalty, but it remained 4-1.
It was a youthful Coventry side with no first team players involved, but even so, it was a second side wearing sky blue to concede four goals in the space of a week, something that hasn’t escaped these fans on Twitter.

I think "slip" is being a bit kind! Slump, crumble, fold, crash might be more appropriate in a tweet that doesn't state the scoreline!

Picking up where the first team left off, I see!
