Two goals in the opening half were enough for Sunderland this afternoon as they edged past MK Dons at the Stadium of Light.
After their draw with Bolton last weekend, Jack Ross’ side needed a big result and they got it. It might not have been as convincing as they’d like, but they’re back to winning ways and keeping the pressure up on the leaders.
Max Power opening the scoring on 24 minutes, with Luke O’Nien adding a second four minutes later. They had control of the first half, but George Williams’ bagged ten minutes after the break to set up a tense second period.
With Laurens De Bock making his full debut and Β£4m man Will Grigg on the bench, Sunderland retained control of the encounter to register a 2-1 win.
It’s not going to be enough to see their fervent fans leave Jack Ross alone, but it should be sufficient for them to at least give him some breathing space ahead of the trip to Lincoln City next weekend.
Here’s what Black Cats supporters were saying about the win on the final whistle.
