‘The fans aren’t even confident’ – These Sunderland fans are not hopeful for Bolton clash

Sunderland travel to Bolton this weekend in a real no-win situation.

The Black Cats will be expected to easily despatch the struggling Trotters, a side with just two points on the board this season. They’ve only scored one goal in the league and are huge favourites for relegation.

Win, and Sunderland will have been expected to do so. Win by fewer than three goals and they won’t have been attacking enough in some fans’ eyes. Draw or lose, and it’ll be all-out rebellion at Jack Ross’ side, despite their current run of form.

Ross knows the dangers ahead. Speaking before the fixture, he’s said; “It will be a challenging match for us on Saturday. Our preparations have been thorough and if we can piece together certain parts to our game it gives us a good chance of winning.”

Other teams have put five past the crisis-club, with only Coventry and Oxford failing to get a goal in encounters with the youthful side. However, with Liam Bridcutt, Daryl Murphy and a host of other senior pros getting fitter and stronger, the routs have to stop somewhere.

If it’s this weekend, this lot will not be happy.
