Sunderland fans are a hungry bunch, but patient at the same time.
They’ve been waiting for news of a takeover all summer; Mark Campbell’s proposed investment collapsed and that’s left them eagerly hoping to hear news of the next people interested in taking the club on.
The Black Cats are a huge beast, struggling to find their identity in League One despite being the biggest club at that level by far. Jack Ros isn’t a universally popular manager, despite a solid start to the new season.
They’re hoping to hear news of the potential takeover by a group of American businessmen, so when the club put out a tweet with the words ‘announcement’ in it, they expect to be told the good news; it’s happened.
What they don’t expect, according to their response here, is to be told about a nutrition company supplement the squad’s needs over the coming season.
No, as you’ll read below, that’s not what they wanted to hear at all.
