West Ham winger linked with Oxford United return

West Ham winger Marcus Browne was spotted in the Kassam Stadium stands last night sparking speculation he was set for a return to the U’s as reported by the Oxford Mail.

Browne watched on as his former teammates drew 1-1 with Fulham. He enjoyed a successful season-loan spell with the U’s last season, making forty-four outings across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing five assists.

U’s boss Karl Robinson has made no secret of the fact he would love to bring the twenty-one-year-old back to the Kassam but admitted it if West Ham made the player available there would be other clubs interested.

Reports claim West ham boss Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t rate the youngster’s chances of making it in the Premier League and will let him leave if the right offer comes in amid persistent speculation that Rangers and Celtic were interested.

However, Browne’s appearance in the stands last night will heighten Oxford fans’ excitement that Robinson has finally got his man.

Our View

This would be a real coup for Oxford and a great signing.

Browne was impressive last season, and most Oxford fans were extremely keen for him to return.

If Robinson has pulled the move off and manages to hold onto Whyte, Oxford could be a real threat to League One defences next season.
