Swindon Town are set to miss out on target Eoin Doyle, according to Alan Nixon.
They’ve been linked for most of the summer with a move for the Bradford City man, but it seems they’re now giving up hope with a new club hoping to secure his signature.
Salford City are ‘the name on everyone’s lips’ according to Kyle Letheren and that may be so, but certainly not in a positive way for everyone. They’ll not be popular in Swindon if they do pip the Robins to the 31-year-old.
It also seems that Blackpool have decided against pursuing the striker, they’ve recently acquired Ryan Hardie from Rangers and that may have put paid to Doyle’s chances of securing League One football next season.
He scored ten in 37 for Bradford as they slipped out of the third tier last season and counts Hibernian, Sligo, Oldham and Preston amongst his former clubs. In 335 senior appearances, he’s hit 106 goals but is thought to be no longer required at Bradford since the arrival of James Vaughan and Clayton Donaldson.
Our View
Whilst the name of Salford City is not popular amongst fans of other lower league clubs, the fact is they’re here and they’re climbing fast. Their recruitment has been a little quiet this summer, but Doyle would certainly be a good player to have in the basement division.
Swindon will know that too, but the last thing they want to do is get into a bidding war with the club owned by Peter Lim. They’ll surely quietly turn their attentions elsewhere when the price gets too high.

Every season we are promised a striker to enable us to progress up the league looks like we will once again be disappointed come on Mr Power complete your promise .At the end of last season we were told we have a striker in the pipe line to galvanize the fans to expect at the very least progress to the promotion or at the very least the play offs seems another pipe dream shattered as were your promise of promotion thanks for nothing
