Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has been charged with actual bodily harm following a post-match incident at Barnsley in April.
Barton is alleged to have confronted Tykes manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel after Fleetwood’s 4-2 defeat at Oakwell.
Barton has ‘previously denied’ accusations over the alleged incident, which Police say left a man with facial injuries.
Barton, thirty-six, has been bailed to appear before Barnsley Magistrates Court on 9 October.
Sky Sports reports that Fleetwood are not expected to make any comment following the statement by South Yorkshire Police.
Football supporters soon took to social media to react and offer their opinions on the latest controversy surrounding Barton, and it is fair to say most were not surprised at the latest news.
Plenty of fans also speculated over Barton’s future, with some calling for Fleetwood to sack their manager, although many did point out Barton remains innocent until proven guilty.

Why should he be sacked?
Is he guilty before he goes to court? What about the legal system.
