Plymouth Argyle have signed West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Alex Palmer on a season-long loan.
The twenty-two-year-old Baggies academy product is yet to make a senior appearance at The Hawthorns, but he has appeared on the bench several times and has also captained their under-23 side.
The England youth international played twice in the EFL last season, on short-term emergency loans with League Two sides Oldham Athletic and Notts County. He has also enjoyed two loan spells with his hometown club Kidderminster Harriers in 2015 and 2017.
Despite his lack of experience, many Argyle fans were delighted with the signing when commenting on social media, their happiness perhaps a reflection of the feelgood factor Ryan Lowe is instilling at Home Park after the disappointment of last seasons relegation.
With little known about the young ‘keeper, many fans responded with praise for the new goalkeeper kit their latest summer signing was proudly wearing in the publicity pictures.
However, on a more serious note, some fans questioned what this meant for trialist goalkeeper Jordan Holmes and their young prospect Michael Copper who Lowe recently said would be given his first-team chance next season.
Here is a selection of their responses to the news on Twitter.
