Bury have announced their new manager for the coming season, with former Grimsby Town assistant Paul Wilkinson taking the role.
The Louth-born manager has been with Truro City of late and takes up his first management role in the Football League, having previously been an assistant or reserve team manager. He spent nine years in the reserve team role with Cardiff City between 2003 and 2012.
Bury have been hunting a new boss since Ryan Lowe left for Plymouth, but financial restrictions have meant they’ve had to shop in the bargain basement for Wilkinson.
They’re facing an uncertain future, with a High Court date yet to be resolved, no training ground when Manchester City pull the plug and an ever-decreasing number of players.
Wilkinson has just overseen Truro City’s relegation from the National League South, with supporters coming to Twitter to tell Bury fans how poor they feel he is.
Having allegedly missed out on Keith Hill, it seems the word ‘underwhelmed’ doesn’t quite do the situation justice.

1- Is that really 11 years? We know the board have had numeracy issues but FFS! 2- Pragmatic! Should be invaluable… He’ll be expected to mow the pitches at Carrington. This club has been “run” by a succession of idiots not qualified to represent any commercial entity. pic.twitter.com/qcoiWeKInb

As a Truro fan in the 7th tier now, I’m happy to see he’s gone. You’ll need more than luck mate!
