Swindon Town have announced that Dion Conroy has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
Conroy joined the Robins in January 2017 for an undisclosed fee from Chelsea, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract. He immediately impressed before an ACL injury severely disrupted his progress, ruling him out for much of the 2017/18 season.
After making a full recovery the defender became an influential player at the County Ground last season, taking the captain’s armband in the latter stages of the campaign as he established himself as a key component of Richie Wellens defensive line.
The twenty-three-year-old has become a fans favourite in Wiltshire with his composure on the ball and technical ability allowing the Robins to play out from the back.
He also added more mental and physical toughness to his game after receiving criticism from manager Richie Wellens following a 4-0 home defeat to Carlisle in November.
The new contract went down well with plenty of Swindon fans on social media, with supporters becoming increasingly excited by the squad Wellens is assembling for next season.
