‘We are very happy to see him leave’ – These delighted NAC Breda fans react to latest Coventry City signing

Coventry City have signed Dutch winger Gervane Kastaneer from NAC Breda for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.

Kastaneer scored twice in twenty-one appearances for Breda in Eredivisie last season.

He has also spent time in Germany with Kaiserslautern in German Bundesliga 2.

The twenty-two-year-old has won four caps for the Dutch Under-21’s side and has made two appearances for the Curacao national team. He also made their provisional squad for the upcoming 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Speaking to the club’s official website Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: ‘We’re very pleased to have sealed the signing of Gervane.’

“He is an exciting winger who has pace, power and creative ability and is a player who will be able to get our fans excited.”

However, some fans of Kastaneer’s former club soon took to social media to offer a different opinion on the ability of the winger with many happy to see him leave and offering a different take on what Coventry fans might expect from their new addition next season.

It is not unusual for fans of clubs were a player has been unpopular to rejoice in their departure so Coventry fans should reserve judgment until they have seen Kastaneer play.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of NAC Breda supporters responses to the signing on Twitter.
