Cardiff City are expected to sign Will Vaulks from Rotherham United in the next twenty-four hours as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Millers skipper is set to join Neil Warnock’s men in a £1.5 million deal.
The Mail claims the twenty-five-year-old Wales international has agreed on terms and is imminently expected to become a Bluebird and Cardiff’s first signing of the summer.
Vaulks has made one hundred and thirty-seven outings for Rotherham since signing from Falkirk in the summer of 2016.
He began his career at Tranmere before moving north in 2013, initially on loan. He made one-hundred and thirty-eight appearances for the Bairns before moving to Yorkshire.
Rotherham took up the option to extend Vaulks initial contract by a year in March this year. He has three caps for Wales.
The midfielder has just returned from international duty and speculation linking him with a move away from the Millers has been mounting following their relegation last season and Warnock is thought to be an admirer of the central-midfielder, an area of their squad the Welsh club need to strengthen.
Our View
There is little doubt Vaulks is too good for League One, and since Rotherham’s relegation, supporters have known he would more than likely be off to pastures new.
He will leave with the majority of fans best wishes.
He has been a favourite player for the Millers since he effortlessly filled the boots of Lee Frecklington following his departure to Lincoln City.
The Cardiff move makes sense and the Bluebirds will feel they have done an astute piece of business if the reported fee of £1.5 million is correct with many from Rotherham feeling he is worth much more.
