Newport County have signed goalkeeper Tom King on a two-year deal.
The twenty-four-year-old was released by Millwall this summer after five years and eleven appearances for the Lions.
The former England under-16 and under-17 international has enjoyed loan spells at Welling, Braintree, Stevenage and most recently Wimbledon where he made twelve League One appearances last season.
Speaking to the club’s official website Exiles boss, Michael Flynn said: ‘Tom reminds me of Joe Day when he first came to the club, he is a very talented goalkeeper, and I look forward to working with him.’
Day signed for Newport in 2014 and has gone on to play one hundred and forty-three games for the South Wales club and is their current first-choice goalkeeper.
However, the fans favourite is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal and with Nick Townsend already contracted for next season; many Newport fans took to social media worried the signing of King meant Day’s time at Rodney Parade was coming to an end.
Day has been recently linked with a move to League One Bristol Rovers.
Here is a selection of their responses to news of the signing on Twitter.
Guess that’s a bye bye to joe 😭

Is that for Joe Day to leave? Heard he was being lined up by Cardiff City? Would be hell of a loss to the county. But maybe deserves to push on and hes gotta look after himself and his family. Big boots for anyone to fill mind
