‘Never a dull moment as a Posh fan’ – Plenty of Peterborough fans are delighted with latest business

Peterborough United have bagged in-demand striker Mo Eisa this weekend, with a ‘seven-figure’ transfer agreed between them and Bristol City.

Eisa has been very much in demand since his stand out season at Cheltenham, slamming 23 goals in 45 outings. His move to Bristol City didn’t bring regular football, but for the second time in his fledgeling career he’s on the move for over a million pounds.

It’s a huge statement by Posh and clearly owner Darragh MacAnthony was delighted with his acquisition. He posted a video on social media looking like the cat that got the cream, and why not. This is a huge statement of intent by Peterborough in terms of outlay.

Eisa was delighted too, saying: “Peterborough wanted me the most, they showed the most interest in me and showed how serious they were to get the deal done. I met the chairman and the manager and they have showed nothing but love for me and that is what I need.”

He’s bagged a four-year deal, not bad for someone who was playing for Greenwich two years ago, but have Posh taken a big gamble, or signed a top player? There is no doubting Eisa’s ability in League Two, he has raw pace and power as well as a great instinct for goals, but he’s not been tried outside the basement division.

To pay over £1m for a player with just five appearances during the last campaign is a big gamble, but a look back at the Peterborough recruitment strategy shows they’re rarely wrong about a striker. Whilst MacAnthony and the hierarchy have certainly rolled the dice here, it’s a gamble that should pay off, albeit one with a big outlay for the club.

Posh fans were utterly delighted to see this business concluded, with the best of their reaction below.
