‘The last player I would ever want my club to sign’ – Plenty of opposition fans react to Coventry’s latest signing

Ben Wilson has been unveiled as Coventry City’s latest summer capture, meaning they’ve bagged two keepers this week alone.

Lee Burge is set to leave the club and adding to the arrival of Marko Marosi earlier this week, Wilson becomes the third signing of the summer.

He’s recently been allowed to leave relegated Bradford City having struggled for game time as the Bantams went down, and lists Cardiff City, AFC Wimbledon, Rochdale, Oldham and Harrogate amongst his former clubs.

He began life at Sunderland and despite having a long list of former employers, he’s made fewer than 30 professionals outings during his career.

Reaction to the move has mainly been positive from the Sky Blues’ supporters, but there’s been plenty of adverse reaction from fans of clubs he’s previously represented. It seems when it comes to making friends and influencing people, Ben Wilson hasn’t got a great track record.

Below are some of the more acerbic and cutting responses from supporters of Oldham, Cardiff and Wimbledon to name but a few.
