Speculation over the futures of Portsmouth star duo Jamal Lowe and Matt Clarke is increasing in the wake of Pompey’s League one playoff defeat to Sunderland.
Lowe is strongly linked with Leeds United in a Daily Star report which claims that Portsmouth’s top scorer is set to push for a move away from Fratton Park after defeat by the Black Cats condemned the South Coast club to another season of League One football.
Lowe has repeatedly expressed a desire to apply his trade at a higher level, and the Star claims West Brom and Middlesbrough are also tracking the talented winger who scored seventeen goals in fifty-five appearances across all competitions for Kenny Jackett’s side last season.
The Daily Mail’s secret scout report in February valued the twenty-two year old at £3m but no doubt conscious of the interest in the dominant defender, the Sun is now reporting a fee of £5m is likely to seal a move away from Fratton Park for the in-demand former Ipswich Town man according to the West Sussex Times.
Both players warrant playing at a higher level and it looks like Pompey fans only consolation is that the money received will hopefully allow them to build a squad that will take them back to the Championship in a years time.
The playoff game against Sunderland was crucial and the defeat looks like it means the end of two of Pompey’s star performers stay at Fratton Park.
