Coventry City have been rocked by the news that their proposed deal to remain at the Ricoh Arena has been left in the lap of the gods, after the European Commission set up to investigate the takeover by Wasps blocked the move.
It was thought a deal for them to remain at their so-called home ground was close to being struck, but owners SISU have previously asked for the deal that transferred ownership to Wasps to be looked into.
They’re going through that process now, but have allegedly blocked the proposed deal between the two.
That opens up the possibility that the Sky Blues will be forced to groundshare, with Birmingham City the most likely destination if they’re not allowed to play at the Ricoh.
It’s a tough situation the club find themselves in, with the fans and players at the heart of the issue. They’re the ones who ultimately suffer the most, with good work on the field being undone by the shenanigans off it.
Fans have once again been left in the dark, with the club refusing to comment on the situation at this time. That’s led to an angry outpouring on Twitter, and rightly so.
That being aimed at all parties, including the journalist who broke the news about the blocked move.
