Leyton Orient returned to the Football League yesterday after a two-year absence.
Relegated in the summer of 2017, Orient secured the title on the final day of the normal season, drawing 0-0 at home with Braintree Town. it was a tense, nervous affair at Brisbane Road, but one which ultimately ended in success for the Os.
When they fell out of the league, it was spectacular. They’d been on the cusp of a Championship play-off, but ended up tumbling down the divisions and out into the wilderness.
Their first season in the National league was all about consolidation, but after a gruelling season in which big-spending Salford and plucky Solihull Moors pushed them all the way, they came out on top.
They’ll be back in League Two next season and as expected, the messages of delight have been pouring in. when attempting to find six or seven for an article one has to wade through over 1000.
There’s clearly delight that Justin Edinburgh’s side are back, with fans of other clubs queuing up to welcome them into the fourth tier of the English game.
We wanted to welcome Leyton Orient back ourselves and have selected a host of messages from fans of other clubs to convey how delighted the football world are to have them back.
