Charlton Athletic are reported by Sky Sports to be edging closer to a takeover, ridding them of despised owner Roland Duchatelet.
However, all is not as it seems if their fans are to be believed. The news is coming from Lieven De Turck, a representitive of the current owner. Fans are hugely sceptical that anything has happened at all, with plenty of false dawns brewing in the past.
The Addicks are in good shape on the pitch, despite selling their leading scorer in January and being unable to replace him; Lee Bowyer has done a fantastic job with limited resources and ignoring everything happening off the field.
Under the Duchatelet ownership, youth team players have gone without water, the squad has been eroded and recently their exciting young manager was offered a contract that he could only describe as ‘different’.
It’s a world away from the bright lights of the Premier League, the one time level expected of the Addicks. After seeing so many false dawns, these supporters on Twitter are not buying the latest news, not until they see something tangible happening.
