Southend United have appointed former Tottenham and QPR assistant manager Kevin Bond as their manager until the end of the season as they bid to beat the drop to League Two.
Bond, sixty-one, has previously had a close professional relationship with Harry Redknapp, having worked under him at Portsmouth, Southampton and Birmingham, who dismissed the pair in September 2017.
A winless eleven game run saw the Shrimpers sack Chris Powell last week and they currently sit above the League One relegation zone on goal difference.
Bond’s only previous stint as manager was at Bournemouth between 2006-08 and Southend fans are far from overjoyed at the appointment. Here is a selection of responses to the news on Twitter.

I can’t believe this news! Survival is crucial and he’s got no experience whatsoever, terrible appointment
