Nottinghamshire Live is reporting that Notts County striker Kristian Dennis is set to swap Meadow Lane for Blundell Park in a loan deal until the end of the season.
Mariners boss Michael Jolley is believed to have registered an interest in Dennis, who joined the Magpies from Chesterfield in the summer, as he looks to bolster his misfiring forward line for the remainder of the season.
Dennis has made twenty-nine appearances across all competitions for County this season scoring six goals, including a hat-trick in their Checkatrade Trophy win over League One Doncaster Rovers.
The striker had previously enjoyed a successful spell in Derbyshire, scoring twenty-seven goals in two seasons for the Spireites.
The twenty-eight-year-old forward appears to have fallen out of favour with new boss Neal Ardley, who recently recruited Craig Mackail-Smith on loan from Wycombe Wanderers in the search for the goals needed to drag County out of trouble.
Our view
Dennis has failed to recapture the form that persuaded Notts County to part with a fee for his services in the summer.
The move from Chesterfield hasn’t worked out as County’s season has descended into chaos. They need to get players off the payroll, and Grimsby needs goals.
The move could work for all parties if Dennis buckles down and rediscovers his scoring touch.
