Bristol Rovers have finally joined in the transfer party, making their first signing of the transfer window with little over 48 hours remaining.
Graham Coughlan’s side have confirmed the loan of young Reading defender Gabriel Osho until the end of the season. The 20-year-old centre-back joins, but it means the departure of Rollin Menayese after the manager confirmed he’d only be allowed to leave if cover could be brought in.
Osho has enjoyed senior football before, playing on loan at Maidenhead United and Aldershot Town, but will now make his first move to a Football league club. He’s well thought of at Reading, a club he’s made two appearances for this season in the Championship.
He started against Middlesbrough at Christmas, playing all ninety minutes before coming on as a late Boxing Day sub at Millwall. he impressed against Boro, earning himself the Man of the Match award and underlining his serious potential.
This could be a good, strong signing for Rovers, but it won’t keep the fans happy.
They need a striker, it’s that simple. Stefan Payne hasn’t done well since his move and both Gavin Reilly and Tom Nichols have struggled too. If they don’t find players who can put the ball in the net, they’re going to be in League Two next season.
Sadly, it’s that simple. Tick tock.
