League Two Northampton Town have sold striker Kevin Van Veen to Scunthorpe United for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year old Dutchman joined the Cobblers from Scunthorpe and has been in decent form, if not spectacular. He’s got seven goals in League Two, with ten in total this season, but there’s been serious question marks over his commitment to the club.
He was said to be ‘keen’ to make the switch back to his former employers and help them in their relegation battle in League One.
It appears he won’t be sorely missed at Sixfields either. Their fans have been on social media discussing the 6ft 1in forward, and it doesn’t make easy reading.
it’s claimed he was on a decent wage and that when things weren’t going his way, he wasn’t one to apply himself correctly. There’s few tears being shed in Northampton over his departure, that is for sure.
here’s the best of the conversation doing the rounds today.
3 goals from open play in 12 months. This is good news Cobblers fans, especially if we got a fee for him that Curle can re invest along with a chunk of his bloated wages!

7 league goals (4 without pens) in a calendar year whilst taking up around 15-20% of the budget…excellent decision.
Id have flogged him too.— shane webster (@DrillingCobbler) January 2, 2019

Now to get rid of others that don’t want to be here. No one is bigger than the club. Should be an interesting window for sure.

Great player on his day. He didn’t want to be here though. Morias & Williams up front could work out ok.
