Rochdale set for double transfer window exit

League One side Rochdale could be set to lose two players this transfer window as they battle against relegation.

Keith Hill’s side are outside the bottom four at present, but just three points separate them and fourth from bottom Scunthorpe United. They lost 5-0 at Doncaster yesterday, having conceded four on the 29th against Bradford City.

They’re now likely to lose two players in the transfer window, although neither are thought to be much of a loss by Dale fans.

There’s strong rumours that Tranmere Rovers will sign 36-year old David Perkins, despite him only arriving from Wigan this summer. His Wikipedia page has been altered to suggest a move, although anyone at all can do that. Reliable Twitter user James Goodwin also retweeted the suggestion he’s due at Prenton Park for a medical today.

Perkins has 11 league starts for the Spotland side, with a further six as a sub.

Another player thought to be leaving Dale this winter is Calvin Andrew. The journeyman striker has four goals from 28 outings and counts Keith Hill’s side as the 12th club of his career. It’s believed he could soon be moving on to the 13th, with former club Mansfield and Bury amongst several sides thought to be interested in signing the target man.

Our View

These won’t be big losses for Rochdale, but they do need a good window. The two thrashings in the last few days will have severely rocked the players and staff and they look to be in dire trouble.

They’ve got Burton, Peterborough, Fleetwood and Barnsley coming up, failure to take at least four points from those games will heap the pressure on Hill.
